Almada in One Minute

With the Local Democratic Power, Almada grew and developed, planed and innovated and becomes an important piece in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon.
Almada set up goals for the municipal development, started with the April 25, 1974, and right from the beginning taken at the level of urban planning and enshrined in territory management tools.
The planning and the infrastructure, with urbanization plans for 90% of the municipality territory, achieved in the mid-eighties, along with the plan of the Inter-Municipal Planning Movement and the Sanitation Municipal Plan, becomes the main goals of the municipality in the first phase of development.

During the second half of the eighties, Almada moves forward to the elaboration of the Municipal Director Plan and sets itself the "Integrated Development" as a central goal for the second phase of the municipal development strategy.
In the nineties - "Decade of Integrated Development" - it begins the implementation of the Municipal Director Plan and works to meet their strategic objectives, previous fixed.
In the new millennium, Almada initiates a new phase of the municipal development – the “Solitary and Sustainable Development”.
